Shaping a New High Street Proposition from Concept to Launch Readiness

Post Office Senior Marketing Manager 2026

Post Office was exploring how larger, high-footfall branches could become more useful multi-service destinations by bringing trusted third-party services into the high street.

01The challenge

Where it started.

Make a completely new service model simple, credible and meaningful to customers before any live proof existed.

02What I led

What I led.

Led the marketing strategy and coordinated the proposition, naming and launch-development work with internal stakeholders and agency partners.

From concept to live

The proposition progressed from customer need, positioning and naming into a live public pilot.

  5. Live

What happened next

I left Post Office while the proposition was approaching launch, so I do not claim subsequent commercial or customer performance as my result.

Post Office Plus has since launched publicly, initially in Barnsley and Derby, with partners including Utility Warehouse, Octopus Legacy and Good Things Foundation.

The proposition that progressed to market retains the core strategic idea I worked on: using trusted high street Post Office locations to give customers access to face-to-face expert support alongside traditional branch services.

For me, that provides useful external validation that the proposition, positioning and launch work progressed beyond planning into a live customer proposition.

04What I learned

What worked
Bringing customer and marketing thinking into the proposition early helped make a complicated partnership model easier to explain.
What I would repeat
Treat naming and creative development as part of proposition strategy.
What it reinforced
A new proposition needs to answer the customer’s question first: “Why is this useful to me?”
